Most alt-text plugins lock you into one paid API. I wanted one that let you bring your own provider: Cloudflare Workers AI, OpenRouter, Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or a local model through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. If one provider hits a rate limit during a bulk run, AltScribe falls back to the next.
Version 1.1 added content sync, which also fixes the alt attribute inside posts that already embed the image, since WordPress writes a static copy of it at insert time. Alt text is saved to the native attachment field, so nothing is lost if the plugin is removed.
